advent reading day 3
It was a new beginning in God's world. It wasn't long before everything went wrong again but God wasn't surprised, He knew this would happen. That's why, before the beginning of time, he had another plan - a better plan. A plan not to destroy the world, but to rescue it - a plan to one day send his own Son, the Rescuer.
scripture reading: a new beginning, genesis 6-9, JSBB pgs 38-47*
symbol: an ark or rainbow, a sign of God's promise that He will not destroy the earth with water again
*we are using the jesus storybook bible by sally lloyd jones for our kid-friendly readings.

this year our advent reading has taken on a new dimension that i am loving. last night as we read the story of adam and eve and their choice not to trust God, i asked the boys to talk about ways that they struggle to trust God. it was such an insightful conversation and what a glimpse we were given into their tender little hearts. it also afforded john and i the opportunity to publicly confess to them the ways that we struggle too. i think it was good for them to hear that this is something that even adults don't have figured out. we then talked about what we might do when we find ourselves struggling to trust God in all things. it was a super sweet time with my big boys who are growing up and wrestling with the Gospel.
